When thinking about all the products required
for your project, dont forget to add the chimney
pot to your list it is the finishing touch.
Why should I think about the chimney
for my project?
The chimney pot is an important part of the
roof. It is not only essential to ensure the
safe passage of flue gases but it has aesthetic
value too. |

What is available?
We stock a range of chimney pots from Red Bank, which
has been developed to harmonise with natures changing
environments. A choice of colours, textures and performance
are available:
Round Tapered
Octagons
Squares
Louvres
Traditional
H-Type
Scottish
Ornamental
Plus a range of inserts and gas flue terminals
What do I need to consider when fitting the
chimney pot?
The design profile and outlet dimensions
of the chimney pot or flue terminal should preferably
equate to the shape and cross sectional area of the
flue lining. The type of terminal required is dependent
on the flue installation and type of fuel used. Main
categories include:
Solid Fuel Open Fire
Radiant Gas Fires
Decorative Fuel Effect (DFE)
Inset Live Fuel Effect Gas Fires
Gas Fired Boilers/Appliances
What are the dimensions?
Minimum recommended dimensions are dependent on the
size of the fireplace opening, size of the flue lining
or appliance outlet, type of fuel and/or appliance.

What do building regulations say?
The new building regulations provide more guidance
and information on flue design and the use of appropriate
materials together with performance criteria. Building
Regulations Approved Document J 1992 was changed
substantially and took effect on 1st April 2002 (published
November 2001).
All buildings have to use clay flue linings to BSEN
1457:1999 or concrete liners to prEN 1857 to attain
Building Regulations approval. The existing BS1181
clay liners will not be compatible with the new BSEN
1457 product and therefore cannot be used in the same
flue system. The BSEN 1457 Type A1 liners are buff
in colour and have a coarser texture because of their
lowdensity clay body which gives an enhanced performance
in temperature extremes. Red Banks range of concrete
flue linings and flue blocks remain unaffected by
these regulations as they were already manufactured
to the standards stated.
